Rouchette Boots for an expedition to Antartica

Rouchette boots on expedition in Antarctica

Our SKIPPER boots are off on new adventures, this time they are going to Antarctica to accompany the Antarctica 2.0°C team on the Louise.

Antarctica 2.0°C is a multidisciplinary research project on the impacts of climate change in Antarctica, led by a group of six students in Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences and Sociology at the Ecole Normale Supérieure.

The expedition starts in October 2021: it includes two months on board a sailing boat: La Louise, to cross from Ushuaia to Antarctica via the sub-Antarctic islands, then two months on a scientific base on the continent.

La Louise is the boat designed by Thierry Dubois, who is also the captain. Designed specifically for Arctic cruises and safe contact with the ice, the Louise is 19 metres long.

These expeditions are essential for understanding the impact of human activity on the planet.

When David Ravanel, the high mountain guide who accompanied the team of scientists, contacted us, we were immediately won over by this expedition. In addition to the scientific interest of the approach, we were won over by the popularisation of the information proposed by the team and the transmission and sharing of this data.

Everyone has a role to play in their own way, and ours is to provide the team with equipment free of charge for this expedition to Antarctica.

We can say that Rouchette is going around the world!
