ROUCHETTE boots sold for €350 in aid of the charity Vaincre la Mucoviscidose
The SKIPPER boots that Maxime Sorel wore during the 2020 Vendée Globe have been auctioned to support the association Vaincre la Mucoviscidose.
It was in 2014, during his participation in the Route du Rhum that Maxime Sorel hoisted the flag of the association Vaincre la Mucoviscidose on his boat for the first time. Today, he is the national sponsor of the association, whose colours he wears.
Following the Vendée Globe 2020, an auction was organised in March 2021 to support this cause, which is close to his heart. It includes items that were with him during the race: one of his jackets, a watch, canvas photos, illustrations and of course his Rouchette boots.
The SKIPPER boots that Maxime Sorel wore during the Vendée Globe, found a buyer for the sum of 350€! In total, nearly 8,500€ were raised for the association, thanks to this auction.
It is thanks to Maxime Sorel and his commitment to the association that we got to know the association and decided to continue to support it by making a donation of €1,000 to the association. The Rouchette team also participated in the #moveformuco challenge.
Who is Maxime Sorel, skipper of the 2020 Vendée Globe?
Maxime Sorel will be at the start of the 2020 Vendée Globe with his foot on the gas, but before he gets there, how far has this skipper, who already has an impressive track record, come?
It was in Cancale, in front of the beach of Port-Mer that Maxime Sorel made his first tacks in light sailing. Was it the presence of La Cancalaise, the emblematic bisquine of the bay, or was it simply an obvious need? In any case, the young civil engineer quickly began to spend most of his time sailing. It was on Pascal Quintin's Multi50 that he first started out in ocean racing before embarking on the Class40 circuit with some success, as in his first year in 2014, he came first in the "Vintage", the first generation Class40s. This first success encouraged him, in 2015, to have a new boat built on board which he distinguished himself by reaching the podium in several major races such as the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Fastnet. Never satisfied, he decided at the end of the 2018 Route du Rhum to take the plunge and enter the 2020 Vendée Globe. Since his debut in ocean racing, Maxime Sorel has been committed to supporting the association "Vaincre la Muscovicidose" of which he is the sponsor.
After a challenging race, he will finish the Vendée Globe in 10th position!
